Northwest Quilters Expo 2015

I found many interesting and inspiring quilts at this weekend’s quilt show.  My favorite one was this by Sidnee Snell.  I love how it captured a moment.  The same way paintings do.  It makes me wonder who lives there and what kind of life they have or had.

Another interesting one has to be shown in a video.  I’ve seen it before both in quilt and painting.  Quilted by Flora Joy.  Just when you think you’ve seen it all, someone comes up with a new technique.

La Passacaglia quilt

I’ve been looking at photos of the La Passcaglia quilts on Pinterest for a while.  I finally decided to tackle it.  It’s paper-pieced “rosettes” that look like the cover of this book.

Here’s my first rosette.

This is going to be a very long-term project.  Maybe years at the pace I’m going.  But I really enjoy looking at the end result.  I plan to post pictures as I go.

Love of Patchwoking (love this magazine) has a good tutorial for English paper piecing even if you don’t want to do this particular project.  Here.

Wish me good luck.  I need it.
